1     Definition

Medical Image Object includes:

Medical Image Data representing pixel‑ or voxel‑based medical imagery captured through imaging devices or acquisition systems, whose primary structure is a two‑dimensional, three‑dimensional, or time‑varying array describing anatomical, functional, or structural information obtained via modalities such as CT, MR, Ultrasound, X‑ray, PET, SPECT, or microscopy. These images may be single‑frame or multi‑frame datasets, volumetric scans, cine sequences, or microscopy image stacks, accompanied by metadata describing the acquisition parameters, modality characteristics, and timing information.

2       Functional Requirements

Medical Image Object shall satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Medical Image Object Header: The Medical Image Object shall include a header identifying the version of the Medical Image Object standard.
  2. Medical Image Object Identification: The Medical Image Object shall include an identifier uniquely referencing the Medical Image Object.
  3. End User Identification: The Medical Image Object shall include the identifier of the End User the Medical Image Data refers to.
  4. Time Information: The Medical Image Object shall include the time information associated with the Medical Image Data.
  5. Medical Image Data: The Medical Image Object shall include Medical Image Data per the Medical Image Qualifier.
    Medical Image Qualifier: The Medical Image Object shall include a Medical Image Qualifier describing the Medical Image Data.
  6. Traceability: The Medical Image Object shall include provenance information and time of production.
  7. Descriptive Metadata: The Medical Image Object shall include descriptive metadata.
