1 Functions
The Acoustic Environment Analysis (PGM‑AEA) AI Module derives a structured Acoustic Profile describing the environmental acoustic characteristics of an audio scene from an Audio Scene Description by
- Inferring reflectivity and reverberation characteristics of the environment
- Estimating diffusion and absorption properties
- Determining environmental acoustic conditions affecting sound propagation
- Producing a new Acoustic Profile representation of the scene
The module is analytical and generative, producing environmental descriptors rather than modifying existing ones.
2 Reference Model
Figure 1 depicts the Reference Model of the Acoustic Environment Analysis (PGM‑AEA) AIM.

Figure 1 – The Acoustic Environment Analysis (PGM‑AEA) AIM
The Acoustic Environment Analysis (PGM‑AEA) AI Module operates as follows:
- Receives an Audio Scene Description
- Extracts relevant descriptors related to scene structure and audio object characteristics
- Performs environmental inference based on:
- Spatial distribution of audio objects
- Temporal persistence and interaction patterns
- Implicit acoustic cues contained in the description
- Estimates:
- Reflectivity (early and late reflections)
- Reverberation parameters (RT60, RT30, RT20, EDT)
- Diffusion characteristics
- Absorption properties
- Constructs a consistent Acoustic Profile (OSD V1.5)
- Outputs the Acoustic Profile for use by downstream AI Modules
The module does not require pre-existing Acoustic Profiles and produces a scene-level environmental characterization.
3 I/O Data
Table 1 specifies the Input and Output Data of the Acoustic Environment Analysis (PGM‑AEA) AIM.
| Input | Description |
|---|---|
| Audio Scene Descriptors | Description of the audio scene from which the environmental acoustic characteristics are inferred. |
| Audio CXT Directive | Control directive specifying scope, depth, or policy constraints for acoustic environment analysis. |
| Audio Domain Response | Domain‑specific knowledge supporting environmental acoustic inference. |
| Audio Interaction History Response | Prior interaction‑history content supporting temporal consistency across captures. |
| Output | Description |
| Acoustic Profile | Structured environmental acoustic characterisation of the scene: frequency range, timbre (attack, overtones, resonance), spectrogram, loudness, reflectivity (early and late reflection times), reverberation (RT60, RT30, RT20, EDT), diffusion, and absorption, with optional Doppler factors. |
| Audio CXT Status | Status information describing the execution and outcome of Acoustic Environment Analysis processing. |
| Audio Domain Request | Query to Domain Access for domain‑specific knowledge. |
