Technical Specification: Connected Autonomous Vehicle (MPAI-CAV) – Technologies (CAV-TEC) V1.1 – in the following called CAV-TEC V1.1 or simply CAV-TEC: specifies the CAV-TEC Reference Model, Subsystems, Components, and Data Types that enable a CAV to interact with humans and services, sense the environment, interact with other CAVs and information sources, and decide and actuate motion in a context where the CAV’s Subsystems and Components operate on Data of known Accuracy, Authorisation, Legality, and Security.

The CAV-TEC Technical Specification

  1. Reuses AI Modules specified by other MPAI Technical Specifications.
  2. Assumes that Subsystems and Components are implemented as AI Modules executed in the AI Framework specified by Technical Specification: AI Framework V3.0.
  3. Does not specify the AIM internals nor the technologies used but only the functions and interfaces.
  4. Does not mandate that a CAV implement all specified by CAV-TEC provided aggregated AIMs preserve the external interfaces.
  5. Is agnostic as to where — onboard or remotely — the specified processing functions are performed.

CAV-TEC V1.1 relies on the following MPAI standards:

  1. Technical Specification: AI Framework (MPAI-AIF) V3.0 specifying the AI Framework where AI Modules are executed.
  2. Technical Specification: Process Instance Trust Framework (MPAI-PTF) V1.0 specifying the data structures, processes, and protocols enabling AIMs to establish, evaluate, and maintain trust in a Connected Autonomous Operation instance.
  3. Technical Specification: Context-based Audio Enhancement (MPAI-CAE) – Use Cases (CAE-USC) V2.4 specifying use cases and yechnologies for context-based enhancement of audio signals.
  4. Technical Specification: Multimodal Conversation (MPAI-MMC) V2.5 specifying technologies for conversation between human and machine.
  5. Technical Specification: Object and Scene Description (MPAI-OSD) V1.5 specifying Audio, Visual, and 3D Model Objects and their Scene Descriptors.
  6. Technical Specification: Portable Avatar Format (MPAI-PAF) V1.6 specifying technologies for speaking avatars.
  7. Technical Specification: Data Types, Formats, and Attributes (MPAI-TFA) V1.5 specifying Qualifiers conveying information on Sub-Types, Formats, and Attributes of Data Types used by MPAI AIMs.

CAV-TEC V1.1 has been developed by the Requirements (CAV) group of the MPAI Requirements Standing Committee.

MPAI may develop new CAV-TEC Versions whose scope falls within the CAV-TEC V1.1 Technical Specification or new Technical Specifications.
