Technical Specification: MPAI Metaverse Model (MPAI-MMM) – Technologies (MMM-TEC) V2.2 – in this and other MPAI documents also called MMM-TEC V2.2 or MMM-TEC:

  1. Specifies a secure metaverse architecture and the technologies enabling an M-Instance to interoperate with clients and M-Instances independently designed and implemented in conformity with MMM-TEC, namely:
    1. The Processes operating in an M-Instance that capture Data from the Universe and actuate Items in the Universe as R-Items.
    2. The Items, i.e., the Data Types with their Qualifiers recognised in an M-Instance.
    3. The Actions and Process Actions that a Process performs on Items. and Processes
    4. The Protocols enabling a Process to communicate with other Processes.
    5. The MPAI Metaverse Model Profiles.
    6. The MPAI-MMM API.
  2. Makes available MMM-TEC Reference Software implementations based on two different platforms demonstrating the operation of an M-Instance in one of the twelve Validation Use Cases included in MMM-TEC.

Note: MMM‑TEC defines the roles, semantics, and architecture where tamper‑evidence is REQUIRED or RELEVANT, but it does not dictate which cryptographic or storage technology must be used to achieve it. It does this because the standard must:

  • Remain technology‑neutral.
  • Support diverse implementations (centralised, decentralised, hybrid).
  • Avoid premature choices that would expire quickly.
  • Permit government‑controlled, enterprise‑controlled, or open‑metaverse deployments.
  • Allow innovation in trust and audit mechanisms.

MMM-TEC V2.2 relies on the following MPAI standards:

  1. Technical Specification: Process Instance Trust Framework (MPAI-PTF) V1.0 specifying the data structures, processes, and protocols enabling Processes to establish, evaluate, and maintain trust in an M-Instance.
  2. Technical Specification: Multimodal Conversation (MPAI-MMC) V2.5 specifying technologies for conversation between human and Machine.
  3. Technical Specification: Object and Scene Description (MPAI-OSD) V1.5 specifying the Audio Object and the Audio Scene Descriptors.
  4. Technical Specification: Portable Avatar Format (MPAI-PAF) V1.6 specifying technologies for speaking avatars.
  5. Technical Specification: Data Types, Formats, and Qualifiers (MPAI-TFA) V1.5 specifying the Health Data Type Qualifiers enabling AIH-HSP to specify Data Types the are independent of specific formats.

MMM-TEC has been developed by the MMM Group of the Requirements Standing Committee. MPAI may develop MMM-TEC extensions or new Technical Specifications in the MPAI Metaverse Model work area.
