1 Functions
The Audio Object Editing (CAE-AOE) AIM:
| Receives | User Command | From the User: one per User action. |
| Basic Audio Object or Audio Object | The Object to edit or to compose into. | |
| Produces | Basic Audio Object or Audio Object | The Object as edited or composed. |
One Object is open at a time, so that a User Command need not name its target: the Object arriving at the Input Port is open, and its Header says whether it is a Basic Audio Object or an Audio Object. A User Command acts on the open Object:
- Modified Objects – edits what a Basic Audio Object is like: its Acoustic Profile (frequency range, spectrogram, loudness, Directional Patterns).
- Changed Objects – edits where the Object is: its Space-Time.
- Added Objects – composes the named Basic Audio Objects and Audio Objects into the open Object, which becomes an Audio Object.
An Audio Object has no Acoustic Profile of its own: each of its Basic Audio Objects has one.

8 Conformance Testing
Table 2 provides the Conformance Testing Method for the Audio Object Editing (CAE-AOE) AIM.
If a schema contains references to other schemas, conformance of data for the primary schema implies that any data referencing a secondary schema shall also validate against the relevant schema, if present, and conform with the Qualifier, if present.
| Receives | User Command | Shall validate against the User Command schema. |
| Basic Audio Object or Audio Object | Shall validate against the schema its Header names: Basic Audio Object or Audio Object. | |
| Produces | Basic Audio Object or Audio Object | Shall validate against the schema its Header names: Basic Audio Object or Audio Object. |
