Part 1 – Architecture specifies functions and identifies data. Part 2 – Technologies will specify the Data Types.

What MPAI-CAV is about

The goal of MPAI-CAV standards is to specify the subsystems and components of a Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) that enable the industry to accelerate the development of explainable, efficient, and affordable CAVs. To achieve this goal, MPAI is publishing a series of standards designed to enhance interoperability of CAV subsystems and components.

Technical Specification: Connected Autonomous Vehicles (MPAI-CAV) – Architecture V1.0 will be the second of the planned series of CAV standards for which MPAI has published:

Technical Specification: Connected Autonomous Vehicles (MPAI-CAV) – Architecture V1 is the first of the planned series of CAV standards. MPAI-CAV – Architecture partitions a CAV into Subsystems that are further partitioned into Components. Both Subsystems and Components are specified by their functions and interfaces. Subsystems are additionally specified by their Component topology.

The MPAI-CAV – Architecture Working Draft (html, pdf) was published with a request for Community Comments and presented online on 06 September 2023. See the video recordings (YT, WimTV) and the slides of the presentation.

Comments had to be sent to the MPAI Secretariat by 2023/09/26T23:59 UTC. Comments received were used to develop the final draft approved by the 36th General Assembly on 29 September 2023.
